Club description

The Robotics Club provides students the opportunity to discuss, participate in, and learn about the FIRST Robotics Competition. We foster an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in High School students and the community through hands-on experiences of participating in robotics competitions and other events that are organized by the National FIRST organization. Students will engage with club chapters from other high schools within the Capistrano Unified School District to create a competition-ready robot and gain experience in various fields of STEM.

Operation Capo Cares

3d printed masks

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dana Hills Robotics Club has joined forces with students from other high schools throughout the district using 3-D Printers to create parts for face masks/shields used by medical professionals. Students have refocused their efforts in building competitive robots towards helping healthcare workers fight the pandemic. As part of the MatterHacker's COVID-19 Maker Response initiative, the district-run program, Operation Capo Cares (O.C.C) has distributed over 30 3-D printers to students, and inspired people to use personal printers as well. As of May 2020, O.C.C. has produced over 2,000 3-D printed parts...and has stopped counting due to the overwhelming amount of enthusiasm and rapid production students have put forth as a part of this initiative. A special thank you to all those who have helped organize and participate in this ongoing effort!

Bots at the beach service project

The Robot Dolphins from Outer Space, FRC Team 5199, annually co-host a First Lego League (FLL) event with Code Orange, FRC Team 3476. Through organizing this event, we aim to encourage children on youth robotics teams to pursue careers in STEM. The FIRST Robotics Competition offers many opportunities for young, aspiring engineers to pursue their interests and gain valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and gracious professionalism.

The Board of Trustees desires to provide a safe school environment that allows all students equal access and opportunities in the district’s academic and other educational support programs, services, and activities.  The Board prohibits, at any District school or school activity, unlawful discrimination, including discriminatory harassment, intimidation, and bullying of any student based on the student’s actual or perceived race, color, ancestry, national origin, nationality, ethnicity, ethnic group identification, age, religion, marital or parental status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or gender expression or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.
