Operation Neptune

Our club helps to provide students with the opportunity to learn more about the events of D-Day in 1944, also known as the Storming of Normandy, in an educational manner, but without the stress of a looming grade. Not only will students learn about the events that took place on that day, but students will also be able to learn about the events that led up to that day, what followed immediately afterwards, and that day’s long-term impact, in an educational manner. As each year passes, more veterans and soldiers who were there the day troops stormed the beaches in Normandy sadly pass away, and with them, their memories to share what they experienced. Additionally, as more time passes, the material students are taught in their history classes puts less and less emphasis on this significant day of history in the larger timeline of World War II. Working with D-Day 2044, we will work with fellow students to make sure they learn the importance of this day and know what happened as the curricular being taught of this day becomes more and more minimized. Since we work with D-Day 2044, not only will students get the chance to learn about D-Day, but we also plan to work with current and past soldiers and help local military families and bases at various projects throughout the year.
