Vegan Club Constitution:

Article I: NAME: Vegan Society

Article II: PURPOSE: To appeal, educate, and create an enthusiastic environment to those interested in the bountiful benefits that are brought upon those who reduce or completely restrict the consumption of animal products. Additionally, the purpose of this club is to address the multitude of misconceptions regarding veganism and why they are not correct when understood in a different perspective. Many people do not understand how a vegan diet is significantly better than the traditional meat-based diet that has become so prolific in Western culture. Individuals who followed a vegan diet exhibit much lower levels of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, and several types of cancer. Through cooking classes, enriching discussions, informative presentations and videos, fundraising opportunities, and field trips, we will help our members redefine their goals, work through problems, and learn about (and hopefully incorporate) the vegan diet.

Of course, we are in no way attempting to convert our members to become to devout vegans; we are simply developing a fulfilling learning environment to view how even small reductions of animal products is beneficial to the environment, domesticated animals, daily living, and those concerned with their health.

Article III: ELIGIBILITY: No prerequisites or membership restrictions. Open to all with a positive attitude and a desire to learn!

Article IV: ELECTION OF OFFICERS: At the end of each year, elections (if necessary) will be held through a democratic voting process: candidates with the most votes for each administrative position will acquire its responsibilities in the fall.

Article V: RESPONSIBILITIES: The president(s) will work together to figure out what is best for the club. As of right now, no additional board members will be added on. The three presidents will lead discussions, invite guest speakers, organize field trips, schedule cooking lessons, take input from members, work with the club advisor to ensure that all of our ideas can hopefully become a reality, and scheduling fundraising opportunities.

Article VI: REMOVAL OF OFFICER: If necessary, one of the co-presidents (or both) will be removed of their position through a ⅔ majority vote form the present members during this meeting, which will hopefully never occur.

Article VII: PHILOSOPHY OF FUNDRAISING: Fundraising is meant to bring in healthy snacks to show that vegan eating is not always pricey and can be tasty.  The action of fundraising will ensure that all of our members can experience our enriching activities without being held back by financial issues.

Article VIII: LIABILITY: There will be a potential field trip to visit a vegan fair, and appropriate behaviour must be acted upon at all times. Groups will be assigned and must stay together at all times. Parent permission slips will be utilized through transportation logistics (whether it is a school bus or a multiple cars).

Article IX: AMENDMENTS: In order to change the constitution, we need a ⅔ majority vote. Also a member should never feel discouraged to question or state anything in their mind.

Article X: SERVICE PROJECT: Every year, we will fundraise money to donate to The Gentle Barn, an animal sanctuary in Santa Clarita.

Article XI: CLUB INTEGRATION: To strengthen integration between students at DHHS, ensure lively participation in our events, and avoid excluding other students, Vegan Society will works towards establishes that none of the members need to be vegan or even vegetarian! Additionally, as (from what we know) being the first club regarding veganism, we feel that we will attract the attention from many students who have never been able to express their thoughts about animal product reduction, sympathy to animals, or just interested in learning about something that can be both beneficial and extremely interesting.

Vegan Society

The purpose of the Vegan Society is to appeal, educate, and create an enthusiastic environment to those interested in the bountiful benefits that are brought upon those who reduce or completely restrict the consumption of animal products. Additionally, the purpose of this club is to address the multitude of misconceptions regarding veganism and why they are not correct when understood in a different perspective.

Of course, we are in no way attempting to force any of our members to become to devout vegans; we are simply developing a fulfilling learning environment to view how even small reductions of animal products is beneficial to the environment, domesticated animals, daily living, and those concerned with their health.

Our service projects for fall 2019 included our field trip to Veg Fest at the OC Fair Grounds, where we supported local animal rights groups, and our holiday card making session for patients in the post anesthesia care unit at Mission Hospital, Mission Viejo.
