TUITION-FREE Saddleback College Courses this Summer

Please view this list of free Saddleback College courses that will be offered at Capo Valley High School over the summer.  Registration begins on April 30, 2018.

CUSD Summer School

  • June 18, 2018- July 25, 2018
  • Coursework is online, with weekly tests taken IN PERSON at ALISO NIGUEL HIGH SCHOOL
  • Students can enroll in a maximum of two courses
  • Mandatory Orientations are assigned based on the course enrolled in. If student does not attend orientation, he/she cannot do the summer school course!
    • A-G college prep remediated course: June 18
    • CCP/Health: June 19 OR June 20

Available Courses

  1. Health: All students may take for original credit or remediation.

      CSU/UC Approved A-G credit:


      Students may take a maximum of two classes to remediate a D or F

  1. A-G Social Science: World History, US History
  2. A-G Biology with additional in-class weekly lab meetings required
  3. A-G English English I-III
  4. A-G Math: Geometry, Algebra I or II
  • Students will be required to attend a mandatory orientation on one of the following days: June 18, 19, or 20
  • These dates are based on the course the student registers for (see above) and cannot be changed.
  • Failure to attend the orientation will result in being dropped from the course.
  • Course work can be completed at home, with the exception of exams.
  • All tests must be taken in person.  A 1 hour testing time per week is reserved for each student. Daily open seating testing times are available for students with schedule conflicts.
  • A-G students must attend weekly instruction/ lab in addition to testing sessions.
  • Drop Deadline is July 10, 2018
    • Students that do not drop by the deadline will receive a grade on the CUSD transcript.
  • All coursework must be completed by Wednesday, July 25, 2018.
  • Some students may be able to complete the class prior to July 25, 2018.
  • Please note: CUSD online courses do not meet NCAA non-traditional core coursework legislation.

  • March 20 – May 25, 2018
  • Register through your current Academic Advisor.
  • Enroll early. Space is limited. Enrollment may close prior to May 25, 2018 if program is filled.
  • Detailed email will be sent on June 4, 2018 with assigned orientation, testing times and dates.

Pacific Coast High School

  • July 2 through August 8, 2018
  • Students may enroll in up to 10 units of credit through PCHS to remediate a D or F grade or to make up credit deficiencies.
  • Math courses require a mandatory in-person or online final exam during the final week of the semester - syllabus will have details
  • Incoming 11th and 12th graders with impacted 2018-2019 schedules may take up to 10 units of Physical Education. Must have Academic Advisor approval.
  • Course availability is on a first-come first-serve basis and may close prior to the registration deadline.
  • Students may not enroll in courses at both ACCESS and PCHS.


  • March 26, 2018 through May 18, 2018 – failure to return the application to SCHS by May 18, 2018 may result in the application not getting to PCHS in time
  • Complete enrollment packet which can be downloaded. 
  • Print out entire packet and bring completed application to current Academic Advisor.
  • Incomplete applications will not be processed and may not be returned by PCHS.
  • Enroll early. Some courses may close prior to deadline if full.


  • ACCESS is not currently a summer school option (as of 3/22/18). CUSD is awaiting a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), registration information, and application information from the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE).
  • CUSD will provide an update with ACCESS registration information and the application once it receives it from OCDE.

Summer School Options

4 year college bound students:

If you have received a D or an F in a college prep class starting with your freshman year, please see your Academic Advisor to register with Pacific Coast Summer School. (online, college prep and free)  They offer all classes except foreign language and lab science.  If you might get a D or F this semester, sign up now.  It will be too late if you wait until the end of the semester.  If you end up with a C, you do not have to take the class. You may also inquire about Summer Credit Recovery options.


Diploma bound students who are credit deficient:

If you are credit deficient, please see your Academic Advisor to register with either Pacific Coast Summer School (online, college prep and free), Access Summer School (once/twice a week classroom meeting, non-college prep and free) or Summer Credit Recovery.
