Jam Session Club

Club Description

jam ses·sion
  1. a period of time spent making improvised music, especially jazz, rock, or pop music, as practice, for fun, or to experiment with new songs or techniques

Jam Session Club is a society based on music, which presents an opportunity for musicians of any caliber, genre, or expertise to get together in one place and collaborate musically. During meetings, we will decide on songs to learn, practice, and perform as a group to build our repertoire. We will also riff, improvise, and solo over chord progressions. Ultimately, Jam Session Club serves as a laid-back community for discussing music, exchanging musical ideas, and finding common ground among musicians. Just pick up an instrument and the rest will follow!

Upcoming Club Meetings

This Thursday, 3/15/18.

Bring your instrument (or voice), song suggestions, something cool to share, a riff/lick, a chord progression--anything!

We meet in room 101.

Procedure for Club Meetings

Meetings will take place every other Thursday (specifically the first and third Thursday of each month) during lunch in the Instrumental Music Room (room 102) located in the SOCSA music hallway, unless otherwise stated.

On days that we plan on having a jam session, members can either bring their personal instruments from home or may receive clearance from Mr. Wade, the club advisor, to use the SOCSA instruments, so long as you are respectful of the equipment and use it as it is meant to be used. Reminders will be sent out regularly regarding whether you need to bring your instrument or not for upcoming meetings.

Community Service Project

Jam Session Club does not have a specific service project at this time. However, we will pursue service opportunities as they arise, especially if they involve music, and we will commit to a specific service project for the future.

This year we will do a beach cleanup to fulfill our community service project.

*If you are a club member and have any suggestions regarding potential service projects, please feel free to send an email to the club email address!
