Honor the Valor 10/13

On October 13, 2017 at 6:00 PM Dana Hills High School will be hosting its 6th Honor the Valor Celebration.  Over the course of the past 6 years this event has honored several hundred military veterans and this year we add another valiant 52 to that number.

The Honorees of this year’s event are from every branch of the military from WWII to present day conflicts.  Some served in peacetime or during the cold war, others stormed the beaches of Normandy, served in Vietnam, Korea, Saudi Arabia, the Persian Gulf, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan.  Our Honorees came from all different walks of life, cultures and religions, but they all have one thing in common-- a love of country and a strong sense of duty.

Many of our Honorees entered the military as teenagers, some as young as 15.  It is hard to believe that someone who wasn’t even old enough to drive was compelled to enlist, but many did.  These soldiers sacrificed high school and living what many believe is the “best years of their lives” for a higher purpose.  They were not playing football or cheering on the sidelines or hanging out with friends at the beach, they were dodging bullets, barking orders and storming beaches.

On October 13, 2017 at 6:00 pm., the Dana Hills football program will honor 52 noble men and women and we invite you to take part in the festivities. Veterans will be introduced to what we hope will be a packed stadium at 6:00, so please come early to help honor our veterans.  Please stay after the game for our Jersey Presentation which begins immediately after the game.

Our veterans look forward to meeting with you and we encourage you to approach them in the veteran hospitality area.  Our veterans have been told that if they are seated at a table in the hospitality area that it means that they are inviting our parents, teachers and students to approach them.  They are so excited to meet with you.  Veteran after Veteran remarked that although it was an honor to be a part of the event, they were more excited about having the opportunity to meet with our students.

To learn more about the Honor the Valor Celebration please visit www.dhfootball.com and click on the Honor the Valor tab on the left hand side of the website. You will find short video in that tab and it will give you some sense of what to expect and the emotional impact of this event.
