Club Description

California Scholarship Federation

(CSF)

Dana Hills High School

Chapter 935s

CSF is the California Scholarship Federation. The club allows students who have achieved academic success to showcase their community service for college applications. Membership is based upon certain grades earned in certain classes. Students must apply at the start of each semester using their grades from the previous semester. All 10th, 11th, and 12th are eligible for membership. Second semester 9th graders may apply for auxiliary membership, membership with does not count toward lifetime membership, but still requires all service hours. If a student was a member of CJSF in middle school, she or he is eligible for auxiliary membership first semester of the 9th grade year. At the start of sophomore year, students are eligible to begin membership for what is called lifetime status – this means that a student has to qualify four semesters between his or her sophomore year and senior year. One of those qualifying semesters must be in the senior year. Meetings, held bi-monthly as facilities allow, are mandatory. These meeting occur every other week at lunch in the porthole theater. A suggested donation of $10 each semester is appreciated. The funds are used to pay for annual state chapter dues, t-shirts for all club members, costly senior awards, and contributions to DHHS. Once accepted into the club, students are required to complete service hours and attend recycling events. Students must complete 4 recycling events (one of which must be a lunchtime event, but students may not do more than 2 lunchtime events. Saturday events count as 2). For students whose athletic or co-curricular schedules don't allow for after school recycling, students may bring in enough bottles and cans to fill two recycling bags in exchange for 1 recycling event. This can only be done once per semester. Recyclables for this purpose can be brought to any after school or Saturday event. In addition, students may exchange 1 recycling event for an additional community service hour. Again, this can only be done once per semester. Students must also complete 2 school hours, which are given for anything that is promoted in the club agendas or done on campus. In addition, students must complete 4 community hours, which are given for any service you find and complete on your own.

CSF is an exciting place to meet people who are both philanthropically and academically driven. Get involved and make a difference for others! See the attached application. If you qualify, print it out, fill it out, attach a copy of your previous semester’s grades or a copy of your transcripts, attach your $10 donation (if you would like to donate!) If you are giving cash, please place it in a sealed envelope; if check, make it payable to DHHS CSF, and turn everything in to room 606 or Mrs. Coghill’s mailbox in the main office.
