Instrumental Music | Matt Smith

Dana Hills Instrumental Music

The music program at Dana Hills offers classes for percussion, string and wind performers.

We have 3 levels of Orchestra, String Quartets, 2 levels of Concert Band classes, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Color Guard and Drum Line. Our ensembles have been recognized for their outstanding performances, and we have an excellent reputation in our school and local community.

Marching Band, Color Guard and Drum Line receive PE credit, and all of our music classes are part of the SOCSA (South Orange County School of the Arts) Academy. Every music student is a member of this academy and has access to all of the arts programs as part of their artistic and technical development.

Each semester offers competitive performances and opportunities to travel to venues around Southern California to compete against other high schools.

We have many performances for each ensemble throughout the year. We also travel with our ensembles to athletic events, Disneyland, overnight trips and music retreats to develop music performance and appreciation. We are going to New York and Disneyland this spring with members from the entire music program.

You will be very welcome in our excellent music program. We offer instruction for every level of performer, even those with little or no experience.

Please contact the Music Director, Matt Smith, at mjsmith@capousd.org for more information or to arrange an audition to help you find the course that is right for you.
