Alma Mater

Hail to Thee O Alma Mater dear,
Home by the ocean so blue and clear,
Place where the gulls fly free above.
To Thee Alma Mater, we sing our love.
Oh Dana Hills of Silver and Blue,
Dana Hills we sing to you.
May you always stand with pride.
May you always be our guide.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM):

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has recognized SOCSA at Dana Hills High School as a 2016 “Best Community for Music Education”. We are excited and proud to be awarded the highest award level for supporting quality music education in South Orange County.

Again Ranked in Top 2-5% of Nations Schools:

Hills High School was ranked by Newsweek magazine as among the best high schools in America for the 5th time.  Dana was ranked in the top 2-5% in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008.  Newsweek's best high schools list used a ratio, the number of Advanced Placement (AP) and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) tests taken by all students at a school in 2004, divided by the number of seniors in that year's graduating class.

U.S. News Rankings:

Dana Hills was awarded a Silver Medal for being named one of the top high schools in the country according to a recent US News and World Report article.  This places DHHS in an elite class for all high schools, the top 5% according to this study.  Dana Hills was the only high school in the CUSD to be awarded this distinction.

1997 and 2005

State of California recognized Dana Hills High School as Distinguished:

In 2005 of the nearly 2,300 middle and high schools in the state, fewer than 465 qualified for the honor based on their Academic Performance Index and Adequate Yearly Progress results, and the 288 schools that filed applications underwent a rigorous selection process conducted by the California Department of Education (CDE), with the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association, and with the help of many local educators from across the state.  However, only 118 high schools were recognized as Distinguished and Dana stands among them. This honor ranks Dana amongst the top 5% of the best high schools in California.

Dana Hills High School was selected for being an outstanding example of successful teaching and learning.  And Dana was chosen for presenting high standards for all students.   It was noted by the selection committee that Dana fosters strong family and community involvement, encourages partnerships with the business community, creates a safe and clean school environment, and uses modern technology.

1997 and 1998

Recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School:

This national award is given to just several high schools per state each year, and the teachers, students, parents, and staff at DHHS have all worked very hard to receive this national recognition.

The Blue Ribbon award was established to identify and give public recognition to outstanding public and private schools across the nation.  Make available a comprehensive framework of key criteria for school effectiveness that serves as a basis for self-assessment and planning in schools.  Facilitate communication and sharing of best practices within and among schools based on a common understanding of criteria related to success.

program in the country in a recent poll.
